KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh accepted today Lynas Corporation Ltd’s invitation for a face-to-face meeting over the Australian miner’s controversial rare earths refinery, but only on the condition that it is open to observers and the media.
Nicholas Curtis, the compamy executive chairman, extended an invitation to Fuziah (picture) yesterday for a meeting to “constructively engage on the issues” face to face.
The PKR vice president told reporters in Parliament that she expects Curtis to continue to persuade and convince her that the RM700 million rare earth refinery plant is safe but said that she was prepared to present the facts and evidence that it is otherwise.
She suggested the meeting to be on Friday, July 1.
