Press Release Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh on 17 May 2011

I have brought to the attention of the MB of  Pahang that  the  panel of experts should be multidisciplined in nature. The MB’s response has been quite positive, as I remember it.

However, I would like to ask, why is it now, the MB of Pahang is keeping quiet, when the panel of experts did not include environmental engineers, ecotoxicologist, public health experts, as well as social science experts. Particularly those experts with experience in low level radiation in huge amounts over a long period of time. These experts in the discipline as above, that has been missed out from the panel, are crucial in determining the safety of the people of Kuantan.

Why is that the MB of Pahang misses the point that the panel appointed by MOSTI (announced by MITI)  is made up of  of pro nucleur experts? I’m not doubting their credentials, but we want experts in the right discipline, Please!

Instead the MB is  asking everyone to wait for the panel of experts to complete their investigations. MB seems oblivious to the cries of the people of Kuantan.

The MB of Pahang have made a mistake once in issuing Lynas the license for the premise to operate  without first having a public consultation. Please do not make another mistake this time.

The people of Pahang particularly the Kuantan folks are looking closely at how the Pahang BN administration plans to solve  the rakyat’s concerns in this matter.

Fuziah Salleh.
