222. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to Fuziah Salleh, member of the Malaysian Parliament for Kuantan constituency in Pahang, calling for
thorium waste from the Lynas Corporation Advanced Materials Plant at the industrial port of Kuantan to be
returned to Western Australia.
(1) Does the WA government support Fuziah Salleh’s call?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), how will the government allow this material into WA, given it would need to meet the
standards required under regulation 9AD of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956?

(2) The Western Australian government does not support the importation and storage of other countries’
(3) Not applicable.
